Las Vegas Wedding Theme

Posted on Wednesday 10 October 2007

Las Vegas, Nevada’s blinking neon-light city right in desert is famous for three things: gambling, entertainment and marriages. And in case you fall for its charm or you and your honey want to get married there, but for one reason or another are unable to, -then why not dig it as a theme for your wedding? It is the next best thing and gives you plenty of room to make you wedding reception unforgettable and unique. If you decide to do it, the three main colours of your decoration should be black, red and white. Black and red are good to give the venue a glamorous touch, while you can use white to lighten the setting up a little. To add the glitter of the city use twinkling strings of light. Here are some more ideas to start your head spin:

  • Hire an entertainer (or more). It doesn't matter if you go with a showgirl, Sinatra, Elvis or a magician. Vegas is all about entertainment. But talk to the entertainer and make sure he knows he is hired for the background ambience. It is your wedding day, and the two of you should be the center of the attention.
  • Some palm trees as decoration add a desert touch to your venue.
  • Place a "welcome to fabulous Las Vegas"-sign right over the entrance of your reception venue.
  • You can rent a slot machine or a table game and a dealer (or ask a guest with some experience to do it for an hour or two). Doesn't matter if you go with Baccarat, Craps, Roulette or the nowadays hyped Poker. This will bring some more casinos experience to your wedding for sure. Just do not forget to hand out some play money chips to your guests.
  • Open a cocktail bar at the reception. Let the cocktail waiter and waitresses wear the typical casino dealer suits with visors and vest.
  • Hand out Cigars to your guests. Be sure to have some chocolate ones
  • Incorporate casino games to your reception. Why not offer a "kiss the bride"-roulette or a poker game for the ladies where the main price is a dance with the groom?
  • Anything with card suites and other gambling related stuff is great for the table decoration.
  • Name the tables after famous casinos like Bellagio, Stardust, Mirage, Horseshoe etc.
  • Use Las Vegas postcards as your invitation cards. That's unique for sure and you let everyone know the theme of your wedding right away.
  • Postcards with the name of your guest make great place holders, too.
  • For your wedding favours you'll have a wide range of options to choose from. Personalized poker chips (often available as fridge magnet, too), a personalized deck of cards, sweets in little slot machines or chocolate poker chips and much more. Anything Vegas or gambling related goes and you'll find something within your budget for sure.

There are many more things you can do and the beauty is that many are not only quite unique, but inexpensive as well. So why not get married Las Vegas style?
